Cesenatico, is a very popular seaside resort in Emilia Romagna and choosing it as a destination for your travels means finding yourself immersed in a treasure chest of vast horizons, lined by the intense blue of the sky and the sea, full of energy and riches to explore.
From the beauty of the coast, to the famous skyscraper, from the gaudy sails that stand out along the canal harbor to the hidden corners and full of magic of the small marine village, without forgetting the places dedicated to the “Pirate” Marco Pantani.
The sea is the undisputed protagonist of this characteristic town on the Adriatic coast with its long beaches of golden sand and crystal clear waters that rise gently. The characteristics of the territory and the numerous bathing establishments equipped with all comforts make this town particularly suitable for tourism of all ages and in particular for families with children.
The Porto Canale is the main axis around which the historical center of Cesenatico rises, and on whose quays the social life and the walk of citizens and tourists still takes place. The port, in its innermost section, still follows the lines drawn in 1502 by Leonardo Da Vinci, called by Cesare Borgia to suggest improvements to the pre-existing landing place.
Along the harbor there are still monuments and important places: the Pisacane square with the monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi and its solemn inscription; the nineteenth-century fish market, behind which opens the piazzetta delle Erbe and then the piazzetta delle Conserve; the square Ciceruacchio, where the perimeter of the ancient Torre Pretoria is traced which once defended the port from the fuste of the Barbary pirates; the remains of the original piers with stilts. In the most recent section, near the lighthouse, the imposing Vincian gates today defend the town from storm surges: a realization of modern technology conducted on the example of Leonardo’s projects. The innermost section of the Porto Canale is home to the FLOATING MUSEUM OF THE MARINARY.
As a crucial point in the country, there are many events that take place here: food festivals and fairs, the Adriatic Cocktails, the Marine Nativity, etc. Do not miss the spectacle of painted canvases, which stand out brightly every year along the free beach of the skyscraper. You can’t miss a romantic walk along the seafront, and a dinner overlooking the sea, enjoying a glass of wine, and enjoying a typical fish fry (classic culinary pairing of the place) …
